Now, this whole thing started over a simple forum giveaway. CabbageMechanic, the new 5th alt account CSR/Forum admin/Community Manager, posted this on the main World of Tanks forum:

All you had to do to enter was type in the name of a tank. That was it. It was, in effect, a free raffle and nothing more. So the question then becomes, “why would you enter a raffle to win something you already have?”
One word, folks: GREED.
Absolute fucking greed. You already have the shit, but rather than give it a miss and let someone win it that doesn’t have it, you’re going to fuck up their chances because you just can’t stand anybody but you getting anything at all.
Now, that is bad enough. But what happens next is just fucking laughable:
After Avalon304 wins a FREE GIVEAWAY, he points out that he already has all three tanks and wants the gold instead which is, according to him and Ritabitches Status Report, their standard policy.

When it comes to giveaways, Wargaming has NEVER, EVER given away gold as compensation if you already have the tank. Fucking EVER.
Remember all the free T1 and T2 premium tanks they gave away nearly every anniversary? Did you get gold for that shit if you already had it?

So what in God’s name makes anybody think they’re going to get over 30,000 gold as a giveaway?

So needless to say, CabbageMechanic is caught between a rock and a hard place. That said, CM does offer up the next best thing: Three T8 premiums that Avalon304 didn’t have.

Avalon304, the greedy little fuck, wants three limited tanks that they don’t even sell. He wants:
T44-100, ISU 130 and the Chieftain T95
How fucking greedy can you get? He demands three tanks NOBODY has the ability to buy in exchange for three tanks ANYBODY can buy. What’s more, he’s DEMANDING those tanks FOR FUCKING FREE!!!

Needless to say, there’s no goddamned way Wargaming is going to do that, but guess what they finally DO offer.
They finally offer him the T44-100 and credit compensation for the other two tanks. Not fucking bad I would say. I mean, IT WAS FUCKING FREE!!!
So all of this shit-storm was caused by greed. I mean, this was a GIVEAWAY, not A MISSION. What did Avalon304 actually do to “earn” all this shit anyway? Did he have to write a thesis? Take out the garbage? Breath heavily through his mouth (which is what he does naturally), lick windows (again, which he does naturally)?
Nope. Nothing of the sort. This is what he did to get all this, folks:

They are two completely different things, you stupid fucks. One takes effort, time, challenge, skill, some luck and in most cases some help. The other, nothing. Nothing at all. You copy and paste a link and type one or two words and that’s it.
So they jump on Avalon304’s bandwagon of douchbaggery and type up this bullshit article.
They actually post the MISSION PAGE and say it’s the policy for FREE GIVEAWAYS. God damnit man!

So, the next mission you come across where you think about doing it so you can get that gold for some Free XP or to camo a few new tanks you’ve added to your garage, don’t bother.

Yep. It’s always the same. Because of some stupid, brainless, fucktard somewhere on this planet I have to have instructions and warnings on a tube of fucking toothpaste.
OK, I have to admit this myself. I never really caught the fine print here on this situation. The only time I ever rarely got anything was grinding myself to “death” to finally achieving a mission for a tank I already “had” which I got gold for once that I can even remember once.
I’ve never been in a position like this before, and ever been lucking enough to have been RNG (selected) for any of these contest, or won any of these things. Actually, I gave up a long time ago, because I saw the handwriting on the wall when it came to these things.
Now, I’m trying to be negative about this by saying that. I just tired of trying for things that you never really stood a chance for, and it always seemed like certain people would win them? And it was like someone like this would cause a “stink” or “shit storm” or “controversy” like this or something this event.
Someone would get ridiculous or greedy, and it would destroy everything for everyone.
And the thing is there was never good effective communication to how and why decisions would come about etc. And to me personally, that became a big turn off.
Again, I’m not trying to be negative, or like I’m pissing on the parade of others who want to be a part of something or enjoy doing these types of things, I just can’t handle seeing these situations play out sadly as they do sometimes, and therefore I don’t want to part of them.
That’s why.
But, I have to admit, there is a fine line on some of these policies on these tank “give aways” vs. “Missions” and Gold Compensation. As I said, “I’m just was never lucky enough in these contest myself to know the fine line of the rules as apparently these guys were to know to manipulate the situation.”
So, this is the case now? “COMPLETELY DONE AWAY WITH MISSION COMPENSATION.” You will no longer get GOLD for mission completions on tanks and things? It is confirmed this is the case?

Richard Sierzega Jr. reminds me of Stuart Shepard in the movie Phone Booth, who is a sleazy publist who lies, cheats, and is very greedy. And has no ethics.

I was reading some of Avalon’s excuses for doing what he did. It’s laughable. Truly, it is. It is a text book exercise in selfishness, greed and entitlement.
That he continuously tries to group a free giveaway in with in game missions is simply beyond the pale.
And as you point out in the article, that he entered to win something he already had goes to show EXACTLY what type of person he is.
It removes any and all doubt that his motives were pure greed. The moment he admitted to owning all three tanks he should have been disqualified and a new winner picked.
That people even attempt to defend his actions in any way is, in my humble opinion, a reflection of the general poor moral fiber of the younger generation.

If there is one thing I can agree with on this article it is that this Avalon304 fella is a greedy little fuck tard, and Rita is a mindless jellyfish.
I used to run a Minecraft server. Its far from what Wargaming goes through in terms of managing gaming customers. I can relate to dealing with fucks like this on a smaller scale.
This game has a long way to go before its one that I will financially support again. I may be quick to scream how fucked up this game can be, but I got to give props when props are due.
Well, we are all the same way. The problem Wargaming has is that their ratio of fuckups to doing things right is around 10 to 1 in favor of fuckups.
Don’t get Gomez started on the RNG in Diablo III. Man, you want to get his ass worked up, get him started on that. He still loves the game though and still plays it and I’m sure if you pushed him on it he’d probably admit that the magic item RNG is easy to live with compared to the absolute fuckups this game produces.
I’m the same way with some games I play. There’s usually always one thing that drives me fucking nuts, but in the end for that one thing that drives me nuts, there’s 100 things I love.
This game is the polar opposite of that now. It’s a fucking disaster.
That’s true. The RNG in D3 does drive me nuts. Example:
You find a good, ancient weapon. You want to re-roll one of the stats to another, which you do at a certain place. Now, if you click on the stat you want to change, it will show you a list of what you can change it too. Sometimes, that list is only 4 or 5 long. Sometimes, it’s 20. It depends on what you’re changing and the item in question.
But on this particular weapon and stat, there were only 6 different things it could be. One of them was %damage. (as in +10% damage)
When you re-roll a stat, it gives you two results you can pick from. So, in the grand scheme of things, you’re actually dealing with 6 cards hoping to get only one of them. Each time you re-roll the stat trying to get that one you want, it cost you more to do it.
So I’m trying to get some additional damage. I re-roll it 64 times to get it.
SIXTY FOUR TIMES!
Now, the thing that drives you nuts is that if it is truly random, why do you roll Vitality 24 times in a row without ever seeing one single Damage bonus?
It would be like firing 64 shells at a tank to get one hit – then you still have to worry about if you’re going to do any real damage or not.
But you are right: Other than that, I absolutely love the game.
The policy isn’t as straightforward as either EWOT or Rita believe. Initially, after the changes to the policy which generally made Credits the compensation for vehicles, they had left a few exceptions. This included any giveaway event hosted by WG, livestreamers or anything that involved a vehicle code. For a while, this became the policy that WG had operated by.
They later made the decision to further refine it, to remove (most, not all) giveaway events from the Gold compensation. However, this was not as publicly announced as the original changes were. That’s why Avalon believed that he was entitled to Gold compensation, because for a while after the policy changes, Gold was given out to tank winners from events. By the time this event rolled around, Gold was no longer the means of compensation however.
What both Rita and Avalon got caught by, was as stated in the article, greed. Legally speaking, ignorance of law or policy is not a defense to its violations. This means that upon being informed of the new policy, Avalon should not have been able to continue pursuing Gold compensation – Nor should Rita tried to justify Avalon’s “case” for Gold compensation.
What caught CabbageMechanic in a snag, is that they had not updated an old CS article which stated Gold compensation for certain events. WG has a history of leaving outdated CS articles live (See Illegal Mod Policy Debacle). This is why Avalon tried to pursue his case. Greedy is it may be, you can’t really blame him. If you can find a loophole for WG to give you more free stuff – Why wouldn’t you? He already won the event.
Now, Rita tried to blow this far out of proportion. WG did not try to “change the rules of the event”. Perhaps WG didn’t make the rules as clear as they should have been… That does not mean they were not there in the first place. CabbageMechanic offered very fair compensation to Avalon; frankly even better compensation than the original prizing (Being able to pick any 3 Premiums vs. being restricted to a pre-selected 3 Premiums? Sounds like a good deal to me).
As for my own personal experience with giveaways from WG – I have received both Gold, and tank compensations from WG events. When winning a tank prize I already had from a Forum event, I received Gold compensation for the vehicle. At a later time, upon winning a different event after WG had begun to change their policies, I was offered what Avalon was offered – Tank compensation of any available Tier 8 of my choice. I had selected the 59-Patton.
At the end of it all – Some poor communication from WG, a misunderstanding of the event rules from Avalon and then ultimately a sense of entitlement and complete ignorance from Rita, meant that this whole situation was blown way out of proportion. CabbageMechanic handled the compensation very fairly; as well as he really could have IMO. Avalon was just trying to squeeze every last drop out of WG… Not a problem, until he tried to make it seem as though he was entitled for specific compensation which he wasn’t. As for Rita… I’ve disliked her for a while. She doesn’t do her research, she puts minimal effort into her posts, and she does come off as overbearing and entitled… She took Avalon’s side just because she could, without putting any due diligence into it.
Usually, when you step back about a week or two later on some of these situations, they become more surreal and strange looking on the surface. Then when you consider the events, motivations, situational drivers forcing the impacts then and there it becomes more clear what shaped the situation. However, somehow it still doesn’t make seem or feel more sane in the present. But, then I guess it never really does.
