MONEY GRAB 2017 – Wargaming says, “FUCK YOU” to player base.

Well, I tell you folks, it just doesn’t get any more ridiculous than this.

The game has been going into the shitter for years, but at a highly accelerated rate over the last year-and-a-half. But now, it seems, they’ve told Sulu to go to warp fucking 10!

First off, the spamming of premium vehicles into a game already choked to death with premium vehicles is bad enough. Rigging the MM to make those premiums bottom tier, forcing them into using gold rounds to compete, thus effectively eliminating their ability to make any credits is another.

But now, they’ve taken it out a whole new door with DELIBERATELY STEALING MONEY. No shit, folks! They are literally robbing the player base blind and they’re proud of it.

How, you ask? In a word: Tokens.

You see, the new scam by Wargaming is to make missions that you simply can’t accomplish even if you’re like Steven Sisk and have no life outside this game.

Once they make the impossible missions, they sell you Tokens. These Tokens can be used to “pay off” a part of a mission that you weren’t able to accomplish on your own because they made it impossible to do so.

Then, of course, they sell these tokens only in packs of five.

So, in a Layman’s example, they make a mission in 10 parts; then make the 9th and 10th leg of it impossible to accomplish, then you have to buy a pack of 5 tokens to finish the last two parts.

So what’s wrong with that? I mean, that leaves you three tokens left over to use on the next days mission, right?

WRONG!

Oh well. That’s pretty bad. But at least they get converted to the equivalent gold value since you paid real cash for them, right?

WRONG AGAIN!

We shit you not, folks. It’s already been asked about and answered:

How ’bout ‘dat?

As if THAT wasn’t bad enough, they’ve taken it even further. You’re almost there, you’ve ALMOST got it licked, you’re on the next to the last mission and will have it all wrapped up…and then…

SERVER RESET!!!

What the ever-loving fuck?!?! And don’t try to sell us on that shit of “it’s regular maintenance”. It’s not.

Why is it that every other game on the fucking planet can do maintenance once per week, some once per month, and it’s always done at the same exact time, the same day, at a time that effects the least number of people and is announced DAYS in advance…

but for some fucked up reason, Wargaming suddenly has to start doing it 4 times per fucking week, any time that inconvenient and completely unannounced?

We’re not the only ones noticing this either:

In the end, there’s only one reason for all of this cumulative bullshit:

It’s a money grab and they’re intentionally fucking over the player base as hard as they possibly can. The entire thing is engineered to milk what little is left of the player base bone dry.

So the next time you think about giving Wargaming some money, you might want to consider what they think of you:

THAT is EXACTLY how Wargaming sees us all. And they are acting accordingly.

I was amazed that WG didn’t even try to offer any compensation for players for unspent tokens as they did with previous marathons. It’s just a huge money-sink for players. Not only is the bundle more expensive than 1/3rd of the tank, but with no options to pick and choose the number of tokens you get, if you’re behind more than 5 tokens, then any work you put into grinding missions will have gone mostly to waste even if you buy the tokens.

I knew that WG would find a way to sucker players out of money in this “free tank” event, but they’ve outdone themselves this time. Why should somebody who completed 14/15 missions, have to pay $19, towards a $52 tank? (14/15) x $52 = $3.47 short of the purchase price… Instead you pay $19, with no compensation. That is money-grabbing and a disdain towards their customers.

I don’t mind them selling tokens for uncompleted parts of the marathons – But they should announce AT THE START of the event in what ways tokens will be sold, and how much they will be… And preferably offer at some kind of compensation for unused tokens. The way they handled this marathon, is nothing more than a “Fuck you” to the players, and a money-grabbing scheme.

And also, don’t forget to point out as the mission continued each day, the damage, and/or XP requirement increased each day as the calendar flipped on the mission as it progressed. It successively got harder each day as you went along. Players on the NA forum were pointing the out in the early days of the mission. After the first 3 days of the mission, that’s when I said, “To hell with this!” I saw what was happening. And I thought 2 days after I had decided, “I don’t need this headache”, then it occurred to me, “How does everyone know how these tokens are going to work out?” But, surely I didn’t think they were going to stoop this LOW !! 🙁

But wait, This is Wargaming, and It’s our WGNA office once again. Robbed again. How do they not get caught $

@ Insurrectional_Leftist. I have personally used the Federal Trade Commission, BBB, and the Consumer Protection Bureau. I used them to correct issues on my credit report successfully.

I can personally attest to their effectiveness.

  7. Scorpiany

CabbageMechanic has stated that there will in fact be compensation as follows:
    T34 B: 800 gold per token
    IS-6 B: 787 gold per token
Mutz B: 580 gold per token

So it’s instead a case of WG’s Customer Support being poorly trained (Big surprise there), and practically no communication from WG until the community is up in arms (Again).

Ah WG, don’t change… No seriously, don’t – You might end up breaking the Contact’s list and personal missions again if you try to touch anything.

  8. Thing 1

    Bullshit.

They had NO INTENTION of giving anybody any god damned thing. Then, just like the Sir Foch incident, it blew up in their fucking face and wound up a PR disaster all over the fucking internet.

THEN and ONLY THEN do they change their fucking tune and start making shit up to put the fire out.

  9. Scorpiany

Given how they’d given compensation with every prior mission marathon, it’s very well in the realm of possibility. It is strange that they wouldn’t place anything on the sale page, but they’ve put out wrong information (or omitted information), many times before.

Although they’ve been a lot more stringy too, so I wouldn’t hide either option out of the realm of possibility.

  10. Meatslab

Previous events like this would allow for the purchase of 1 token. To me that would be they way to go. I find it suspect that they bundle a five pack of tokens and don’t mention receiving credits for the ones you don’t need. They knew what they were doing and its intentional.

Just stop spending money on this worthless game anyways.

  11. Meatslab

I should also make mention, digital game currency like in game gold isn’t the same as real cash. If you are forced to purchase more tokens, another type of digital game currency, than you need and they offer gold as “compensation”, your getting screwed.

    Clearly a money grab.
A typical WG distasteful MONEY GRAB.

  12. Scorpiany

I certainly agree with that, Meatslab. As I mentioned in my first post, not only are the 5 tokens (1/3 of the tank) more expensive than 1/3rd of the tank normally be, but they also force you into buying all 5 – So if you were just 1 or 2 missions away, then you’re being sucked out of a lot more money than you should be paying. On the other hand, if you were any more than 5 missions away from completing it, then it was all essentially to waste; since it would be silly to buy 10 tokens at those rates.

I do think they intended to offer Gold compensation though. These marathons are always ways for WG to squeeze some money out of players that normally wouldn’t spend it. If someone is close to one of the tanks, they’re very tempted to spend a little bit on the tokens. Not offering individual tokens, and only sets of 5, means that unless there’s compensation offered, those players that are being targeted with these missions won’t want to buy.

These marathons are always the same every year – Hype up a free Premium tank, get players investing a bunch of time earlier on with seemingly doable missions, then increase the difficulty greatly towards the end. Those who thought they’d be able to get the tank are now just a couple of tokens off. Offer tokens for sale, get money from those players because the players don’t want to feel that their time’s been wasted.

Either WG thought they could squeeze even more money out of players by not offering compensation and only bundles of 5 (Which in my opinion would be a massive oversight from a business perspective, since the market for these marathon missions aren’t players who are willing to spend lots of money for little return. Instead, it’s the opposite; those who won’t spend money on the game unless they feel like they’ll get a lot of in-game stuff for it)… or they completely messed up their announcement on the main page (Keep in mind, interns write those – Remember when they called the AMX CDC a “well-armored” medium tank? That was because an intern had played it in a Training Room against Pz. 1C’s… Yeah…)

Meastslab; “That’s very true.” It’s a double swindle within a swindle, an abuse of the drawn up EULA as well. See, this is where it’s getting dangerous. You’re playing with people’s real money here.

I’m trying to contact that player who showed up in live game chat the other day who wanted players to contact him about needing list of people to join him in a multi player FTC joint contact of a list of these situations with Wargaming. I’ll check with Thing 1 to see if it’s OK to post his message up on this thread.

I would like to get him to contact me back first, which I am trying to do. Will let you guys know if I can get him to contact back?

There needs to be some kind of policing in the on-line gaming world, or atleast here on our own shores in North America.

  14. Insurrectional_Leftist

Here is the screen shot from the player for which I am speaking of whom left the message in game chat who has contacted the FTC. I am trying to contact him. He describes the issues he has contacted them with, and is looking for other players as well.

Leave it to WG to double down on the stupid and punish their most loyal players. I’m sure Gaijin is laughing all the way to the bank these days.

  16. Thing 1

They are. Most everybody I know is back over at War Thunder.

  17. Gomez_Adams

I certainly am. I’ve been having a ball in Realistic Battles Aircraft.

Had the first 4 kill game I’ve had in a long time yesterday. We lost, but man it was awesome. Spaded the C205 Serie 3 Italian fighter yesterday. That plane is simply magnificent.

Just got hold of the P47N and will be grinding it over the holiday.

My biggest problem is having so many planes unlocked at once. I have about 40 unlocked, but not the time and money to do anything with them.

I now have every BF 109 in the game unlocked and own most of them but the last one I have spaded is the F4 Trop. (I still have the entire G line and the K4 to go. Most of them I’ve never flown even once.)

It’s a good problem to have though: so many vehicles that I can’t possibly fly them all.

I played a couple of tank games the other day and it wasn’t bad. I’m just clueless on the maps these days.

It’s just a much, much better game than anything Wargaming has except for Warships…and I’m pretty sure that War Thunders Warships are going to be better as well.

  18. Thing 1

Yep. We were discussing that on the forum. What a full of shit, all or nothing move. I mean, for fucks sake, it’s got to be a sick joke. They’ve got to secretly be sitting there saying, “Hey guys…lets fuck them over and put EVERYTHING on sale for 50% off like War Thunder did a few weeks ago, but put it ALL IN ONE PACK! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

There’s no fucking way anybody does something this fucking stupid on purpose. Just no fucking way.
